BLACKBURN WITH DARWEN BOROUGH COUNCIL
We’re launching something special in Blackburn with Darwen—a grassroots network of schools, heritage sites, and community partners working together to uncover and celebrate local stories. Our aim is to make the area’s rich and diverse history accessible, meaningful, and inspiring for young people and their communities.
The hub is being led by Laura Butterworth (Schools Lead) with support from Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery. Our first schools are already joining, and we’re starting to map out the people, places, and events we’ll explore together—from industrial heritage to migration, activism, and everyday life. Whether you’re a teacher, heritage organisation, or local resident, there will be plenty of ways to get involved.
This page will soon feature updates, stories, and ways to connect—so stay tuned!
